Peacefully, at the Southern General Hospital, on Wednesday, 26th November, 2008, Gillie, beloved husband of the recently late Mary, loving dad of Mary, Jean, Barbara, Gilbert, John and Helen, a much loved granda and great-granda to many grandchildren. Sadly missed by all the family. Funeral service at Co-operative Funeralcare, 14 Lammermoor Avenue, on Tuesday, 2nd December, at 10.45am, thereafter to Craigton Crematorium, Berryknowes Road, arriving at 11.30am, to which all friends are respectfully invited. Family flowers only, please.

In loving memory of our dear dad Gillie Burns who passed only 7 weeks after our mum Mary Burns.he just simply could not live without her.
Dad went into hospital a few days after mums funeral with a chest infection and a low pulse and when he was about to get out he fell and fractured his hip in 2 places.He was told he needed theatre and that he may not survive but he battled on and had the surgery to which he came through well.sadly his chest got worse and from then he went downhill but still he would not give up he battled on unfortunately he recieved several infections and sadly he tried so hard right till the very end on Wednesday 26th November at 8.35am where dad closed his eyes forever and went to find our mum.We love and miss you dad love forever xx

One Year on
Hi Dad i cant believe it has been a year since you last shouted at me haha.I miss you so much it hurts but i am trying to be so strong as i know that you and mum wont want me to be miserable.I have spoken to you both a few times which has helped a lot as i know you are both still with me.The message you gave me last week was fab and helped me move on a little bit more life is hard without you both but i feel you around me all the time which is a great comfort and i feel really blessed to be able to speak to you both give everyone my love esp my wee adam give him a cuddle from his mummy and look after him for me love you forever your wee darling xx
hi dad hows things hear you and mum doing fine well soon be 1 year since i lost you feel we should have helped you more in hospital but we really did all we could sorry you didnt get long staying in my house but knowing you you had to go were mum was but you could have gave us a bit longer its a same we are now the older gen bet your laughing about that haha love you babbie xxxxxxxxxxxx
hi dad lap top was,nt working sorry i didnt get on for fathers day bet wee gilbert was glad to have you with him its his aniversary today i am so happy for you and mum to be with him bet you are to i miss you and mum so much hope you are all happy if there is a way any of you can let me know please try well i am going to visit mum now love you loads babbi xxxxx
HAPPY FATHERS DAY DAD
Hi Dad today is very hard as its our first one without you we love and miss you so much.I am trying to concentrate on the good memories to get me through hope gilbert is enjoyin his first one with you this gives me comfort.I feel you round me all the time and this has helped me cope so thanks for that love you dad xx
HAPPY 80TH BIRTHDAY DAD
Happy 80th birthday dad we all missed you more than ever dad as it is your first birthday without us.I take comfort that you are with Gilbert and mum but it still hurts so much to think of this big celebration without us we should have had a wonderfull day and night of celebration with you we all feel so cheated so never forget that we all love and miss you hope Adam gave you lots of cuddles for me as i could not do it myself.I put some horses on for you today the ones that reminded me of you and mum and i won so i guess you are looking after me love forever Helen xx
